NOT !!!

Pirkei Avot
Discussion based upon
the Maharal’s commentary “Derech Chaim”

NOT...!

Last week... we began to look at the Pirkei Avot commentary and, for what ever reason, it seemed to strike a wrong note. We had a problem getting into a discussion on the topic, so I have something else for this week but not before I go back to make one point:
In the Maharal’s introduction we go to the area [more or less] where we learn about; “Shabbos is a fitting time for these reflections, for the reason illustrated by this Midrash- ‘Three testify about each other. Shabbos and Israel testify to the unity of G-d. G-d and Shabbos testify that Isarel is one nation. G-d and Israel testify that Shabbos is a day of rest.’” The phrase “that Shabbos is a day of rest” means that Shabbos also is “one” in the sense of being complete, unique and foremost of the days of week.” And the point here is that: “It is appropriate to rest only when something is complete; otherwise there is continuing development. The day of rest is therefore “one” in the sense of self-contained perfection, as well as being unique and foremost among the day of the week.” This then is justification for the “39 Prohibitions.” Comment?

So I have something else here which actually relates back to the Torah Portion “Tzav”, but is still applicable to learn and discuss today. Rabbi Joshua Grater, of the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center (Conservative) wrote this:
